Our Food Programme

A food programme in Kasambira was needed because of extreme poverty. Many elderly people are caring for grandchildren , whose parents have died, often because of AIDs.

Life is hard. Water has to be fetched from a borehole, ground has to be cultivated but crops often fail because of drought and disease. Hunger is a part of every day.

The food programme supports some thirty families, giving maize and beans to those who would otherwise have nothing. Children and their grandparents are being nourished and the endless struggle to survive is a little easier.

The hope for the future is that ,as the younger generation receive adequate nutrition, a good education and some training this cycle of poverty will be broken.
